I work at Macy's, a company that is always in the spotlight for doing the right thing. Macy's is always recognizing and promoting charities and great humanitarian causes. Championing new markets and trying to make the world a better place through contributions and participation.
Unfortunately, the fact that every year for the last few years we have had to open earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving Day is horrible.

When I started here we were closed that day and were able to enjoy the day with our families. Then after a couple of years we opened at 5 am on Black Friday. Then a couple of years went by and we opened at midnight on Thanksgiving Day. Now Macy's is opening at 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day. The fact that a company which strives to be so supportive of family values and a proponent of healthy homes and family relationships, decides to turn it's back on its employees is irresponsible.
Macy's needs to understand that the families of its employees matter more than the bottom line and not open its stores on Thanksgiving Day. Macy's set the standard for a fair and respectful workplace, a place most people brag about working at. I believe they have lost their way and need to change the course for the good of the community and its employees!
